Rekindle London

Rekindle is proud to be partnering with Oasis to create a future provision at the stunning St Martins in the Field building in Tulse Hill, South London.

Tulse Hill

Rekindle@Oasis St Martins, will be the newest addition to our soulful sanctuaries. The same as our Manchester School, we focus on supporting young people aged 11-14 years with their education, and aspirations, alongside their physical and mental wellbeing. We deliver a creative & cultural curriculum supporting young people to become confident critical thinkers.

Our soulful sanctuary will be open 4- 7pm on weeknights and will offer mentoring, homework support, a hot nutritious meal, access to professional networks,  holiday clubs and so much more – all free of charge.

We’ve now recruited our Youth Pioneers, a committed local group of young people to design the bespoke curriculum for their community and to employ local educators to run the school from September 2024.

If you are interested in hearing more about our school, please contact Nika, our Programme Director.

The Story So Far

We’ve been carrying out a lot of prep work ready for Rekindle@Oasis St Martins. Conducting research, setting up community consultations and searching for our potential ‘Youth Pioneers’ to help develop the school.

Partnership Working

Rekindle@Oasis is our first time to partner up with an organisation to bring our soulful education outside of Manchester.

Community

We want to better understand the complexities, challenges and opportunities currently faced in Tulse Hill. We’ve have been conducting community conversations and attending local events to understand the needs.

Our Youth Pioneers

We’ve now recruited our 8 brilliant Youth Pioneers, who are integral part of the team and will help bring Rekindle@Oasis to life.

A New Way Of Thinking

Using our SNAP framework, the Youth Pioneers will now start to develop ‘The school you wish you’d attended’ and we can’t wait to show you what they achieve.

Meet our Rekindle Youth Pioneers, Tulse Hill

I’m passionate about being a Rekindle Youth Pioneer because I believe in equity in education. I believe in breaking barriers in education and providing less advantaged students with the same opportunities as those who are more privileged. Education is not a luxury nor a privilege it is a right. And by being a Youth Pioneer, I want to make sure that every child reaches their potential. Where mainstream education has a straight path, I would like to help forge different paths and introduce different perspectives and ways of learning to not only help achieve educational goals but also gain knowledge of the world around them.

Being a Rekindle Youth Pioneer, I feel like I could make a difference in the youth's lives. I struggled with education. So I would like to make sure that the youth of today have a better opportunity in school then I did.

Javanie
Youth Pioneer, Tulse Hill

I'm a resident of South London and a former student of St Martin's. Throughout my time in this vibrant community, I've witnessed firsthand the challenges and opportunities that young people face, and these experiences have fueled my passion for youth development and community engagement, and I believe that becoming a Youth Pioneer is the perfect avenue to channel this passion. Through this opportunity, I hope to not only grow personally and professionally but also to play a part in uplifting the next generation, ensuring they have the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.

I'm extremely proud to be part of such an impactful community in society. I am a passionate and dedicated individual who constantly seeks opportunities to make a positive impact in the lives of others. As a Youth Pioneer for Rekindle, I’m committed to fostering growth and development, guiding young people to reach their full potential.

Becoming a rekindle pioneer is the first step in addressing and preventing inequalities from taking place in schools. As a student I have experienced discrimination by my teachers in school and it affected my academic achievements. Unfortunately, there are many other students who have faced this as-well.
