Mel Da Silva Pinto- Holistic Care in the UK School System

Mel is a political educator, creative, and researcher with the Rekindle Foundation. Passionate about embedding care in education, her work explores how emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental well-being can be prioritised within school systems to help all that work within it, thrive.

Mel Da Silva Pinto

Mel’s research investigates how holistic care practices can be embedded into the UK school system. She is exploring:

  • The role of health & belonging in student well-being.
  • How curriculum & discipline impact care in education.
  • The importance of teacher training and conflict management.
  • Community integration and anti-bias approaches in schools.

By centering the voices of young people, educators, and community members, this project seeks to identify meaningful ways to reshape education with care at its core.

How You Can Get Involved

Mel is looking for:

  • Young people and educators willing to share their insights.
  • Participants for focus groups with educators and workshops with young people.
  • Contributors for a survey and interviews on holistic care in schools.

Your input will help build a vision for an education system that nurtures the whole individual.
