PAL PATEL – INTERSECTIONALITY IN EDUCATION

Pal is passionate about making education more inclusive by addressing inequality through the lens of intersectionality. Her work focuses on ensuring young people’s diverse experiences are recognised and understood within the education system, with the aim of empowering young people.

Rekindle Foundation Youth Researcher Pal Patel

Pal’s research explores how intersectionality affects the educational experience of young people (age 15-25).

Through ethnographic reflection and co-created interventions, this project seeks to amplify positive aspects of intersectionality while mitigating its negative impacts. Key questions include:

  • How does intersectionality shape young people’s experiences in education?
  • Does education about, and understanding of, intersectionality make young people feel empowered enough to take control of their story?
  • What interventions can educators and young people create together to foster a more inclusive learning environment?
  • How can time and space be created within education to support and empower young people who often lack these opportunities?

How You Can Get Involved

Pal is looking for:

  • Teachers and school support staff (working with Years 10-13) passionate about educational equality.
  • Young people (aged 15-25) willing to share their experiences of intersectionality in education.
