Soulful Sanctuaries

Are you a young person who sees the world differently? Do you want to make a positive impact on your life, your community and beyond? Do you wonder about the future and want to help shape it? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then Rekindle is the perfect place for you.

Our Manchester and London youth spaces exist to spark a love of learning in working class young people, supporting them to become confident critical thinkers.

If this sounds like something you or a young person in your life would be interested in, please get in touch via the below email.

Word on the street

Much more active than normal school, you get to do things that you enjoy like making music and learning how to box.

Rekindle Young Person
Aged 13

Volunteering with Rekindle helped develop my own confidence. I led a financial literacy workshop at 17 years old to young people, aged 12 and 13. They enjoyed it and I was proud to have delivered something of real quality.

Our school will be a haven from the everyday stresses and pressures that our students experience in their day-to-day lives. We will take students who are on the cusp of falling off the cliff of education, and to provide them with the holistic support needed for them to lift themselves back up.

FAQs

What are your opening hours?

Rekindle is open Tuesdays to Friday 16:00 – 19:00 during term time.  Rekindle does not overlap with a normal school day, nor is it an alternative to a young person’s mainstream schooling. We have creative sessions on a Saturday which run from 10-1pm at the Whitworth Art Gallery.

When are you open during the school holidays?

Our programme changes during the school holidays and we run holiday clubs. Please sign up to our newsletter for the latest information via our contact page. These are subject to change but there will be plenty of information shared ahead of time.

How much will it cost to send my child to Rekindle if they are selected?

Rekindle school is completely free. We work tirelessly so that we can raise the funds to provide a school that is accessible for all. We have done everything we can to provide an environment and education that is not limited by postcode or the bank balance of parents.

Is there any exercise available?

Exercise plays a key role at Rekindle. We believe that a physical education stimulates and nourishes the minds of our young people and prepares them to learn, critically assess and improve their overall engagement. The nutrition and nourishment of our young people is extremely important.

Do you have to attend every night?

Attendance is not mandatory. We are sympathetic to how busy a week can be and that for some students, socialising every day can be tiring. Rekindle projects are designed with a weekly schedule so if there is a specific project a young person wants to be involved in, they can determine which day(s) of the week they would like to attend.

What food is provided?

Our meals are always high quality and packed with nutrition and flavour. We have partnered with the brilliant Eat Well MCR who provide free evening meals for our daily sessions.

What is our curriculum?

Please see our framework page for information about our curriculum.
