The Voices of South London – A Night to Celebrate
We recently came together at Oasis St Martin’s Village for the screening of The Voices of South London – a youth-produced film created in our first ever programme at Tulse Hill.
The event brought together young people, friends, families, residents and local community organisations, to watch, listen and spend time with the work the young people had created.
The film
At the heart of the evening was the screening of The Voices of South London. Created by young people, the film shares reflections on growing up in South London – told in their own words and shaped by their everyday experiences, relationships and sense of place.
Each story, each rhyme and each young person brings an authentic, unique perspective on South London to counter the stereotypes that are often enforced on young South Londoners.

The evening
The screening sat within a wider celebration of the young people involved and the time, care and collaboration that went into the programme. Alongside the film, the evening included a performance from one of our Creative Educators Josh- known artistically as Jago – and a photography exhibition showcasing some introspective photography.
Together, these elements helped set the tone for the night, creating space to pause, take in the work and share the moment as a community. The atmosphere in the room reflected that – a mix of pride, excitement and attention as the film was shared for the first time.
Felt so proud of them for representing us as parents and South London. Made me want to cry – loved it!

A first milestone
The screening has marked the start of something bigger. The Voices of South London is a film shaped by how young people see South London, centering beauty, joy and pride in their communities, but it also represents an important first step for our London work -the first major piece created by the London team – and the first time these young people are stepping forward to lead and be seen. Many will continue to shape our programmes over the coming years, making this a truly meaningful beginning.
This project was made possible with the help of Vanessa Lefton, Bella Richards & Lizzy. A huge thank you!
